RAFT Self Analysis

For my RAFT project, I chose to be a runaway telling my parent how to reconnect with me. I chose this because it was a theme that seemed to be somewhat relatable to my life. In the letter, I wrote about how I didn't want to get too engulfed in money and the material items I could get with it. I also feel this way in reality, because I feel that money should not be the object that controls your whole life. Also in the letter, it was pretty obvious that my mother and I did not have a close relationship. In my life, my father and I are not close. The quote, "The sinew and hearts of men seem to be drawn out, and we become timorous desponding whimperers. We are afraid of truth, afraid of fortune, afraid of death, and afraid of each other." (Emerson), relates to the theme because I had decided to run away because my mother and I were not close. The money had also become a priority in her life, which was another reason why I "ran away". In the end of the letter, I decided to come home because "Happiness is only real when shared." (Krakauer 189). I had run away on my own, and I had become lonely, so I made a decision to return home and attempt to reconnect with my mother.
